Meningitis Mayhem:

The name may sound scary but meningitis can be dealt with easily. Take precautionary measures and don't panic. It's usually caused by either bacteria, viruses or similar infectious agents. Symptoms: Fever, severe headache, pain in the neck, vomiting, seizures, tiredness Treatment: Depends on the organism causing the infection, your age and the extent of infection. Patients do get better within three days but seeing the doctor is essential.

Symptoms Of Loneliness and Cure:

1) A feeling of being inferior to others. Better known as inferiority complex. 2) Everytime you are alone you feel like calling up other people or surfing the net for companionship. 3) Dreading to be with yourself-alone 4) Feeling envious about others who are happy in life. Cure: 1) Cultivate a hobby 2) Join an NGO, work for slum dwellers, teach their children, do some kind of social work. 3) Join dance classes 4) Buy a cookbook and try out new recipes at home 5) Build lasting relationships 6) Learn to pray and meditate.

Depressed people prone to diabetes:

Elderly people who are depressed are more likely to become diabetic than those who are not,according to a study that suggests depression may play a role in causing the most common form of diabetes.Writing in the "Archives of Internal Medicine," the researchers said people with a high number of symptoms of depression were about 60% more likely to develop type 2 diabetes,formerly called adult-onset diabetes,than people not considered depressed.Unlike some other studies examining a link between depression and diabetes,this one looked at the effects not only of single bouts of depression but also of chronic depression and depression that worsened over time.It found an increased risk for diabetes in each of those scenarios.

DVT (Deep Vain Thrombosis) can be life-threatening:

What is DVT? Deep Vein Thrombosis(DVT) is a condition in which ablood clot forms in the deep veins, usually in the legs. It could be fatal if a part of the clot breaks off and blocks blood vessels in the lugs, a condition called pulmonary embolism. Worldwide,in the last five years, DVT has claimed more lives than AIDS/HIV,breast cancer,prostate cancer and road accidents combined! Causes:DVT can be either hereditary or acquired. People with a family history should get themselves tested to figure out if they have the tendency. In cases of acquired DVT,one factor or a combination of factors like dehydration, immobility,oral contraceptive pills, hormonal therapy,etc,may be the cause. Symptoms:If the clot occurs in the brain, there's persistent headache and alteration in vision.In the lungs,there could be breathing problems.
